Jumping Logo – REAPER Script for Audio-Reactive Video Noisebud, 2026, January 23 Before Christmas, me and my friend Sol played a live set with our project n001se here in Stockholm. It is noisy, messy techno built around drum machines, feedback, no-input mixers, and deliberately rough edges. The setup is chaotic by design. Pure fun! The performance was recorded straight from the headphone output of a Kaoss Pad that sat close to the end of the signal chain. The result is dense, driven, and unapologetically over-compressed. It is all about energy and movement rather than polish. We recorded the performance audio only. When it was time to upload it to YouTube, staring at a black screen for the entire set felt… uninspiring. So I thought: maybe I can create something audio-reactive directly inside REAPER, without having to learn yet another visual tool. Then I spent a bit too much time writing this script. I am sharing this primarily as a reference rather than a finished tool. It is quite limited in what it can do, and that is fine. The idea is that you can look at how it is built, pick apart the code, and reuse or adapt parts of it to create your own audio-reactive visuals inside REAPER. You can absolutely use it exactly as it is, but the real value is in the concepts and techniques it demonstrates. Important note This script is completely free. You need to follow the Patreon page to download it, but no paid subscription is required. It lives in the Freebie and Demo Hub, and will remain openly available. How you use it Put your audio file on a track in an empty REAPER project and select the track. Run the script. Choose an image file. Press play. Adjust the animation using the Noisebud Multiband Video Control plugin on the audio track. That is it. The JSFX handles multiband detection, envelopes, timing, and optional audio-to-video delay compensation. The Video Processor handles zoom, brightness, blur, glitch artifacts, and noise, all driven by low, mid, and high energy. If you are curious about the context this script came out of, the original n001se live set is available on YouTube:https://youtu.be/1xCXDm3XmgQ?si=b8CMAp6UxuktgDoW Download: Freebie and Demo Hubhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/95921910 Please follow me on YouTube I mainly use YouTube as a host for Patreon videos, but some people do discover my work there. Reaching 1,000 subscribers helps YouTube start recommending the channel to new viewers, which in turn helps more people find my tools. That usually means more time for development. If you are already watching the videos there anyway, following the channel would help a lot. And to everyone who has already followed after I asked earlier. Thank you. I really appreciate it. https://www.youtube.com/@Noisebud?sub_confirmation=1 Link to this Patreon post:https://www.patreon.com/posts/148920952/ This link is included because the post may be shared on other platforms or via RSS feeds. Harry Partch 2011, December 20 Everyone should have a go at Harry Partch music, at least once. You may not like the sound at first (probably it will sound terrible) but we found him very inspiring in his search for his own sound. Something he really thought sounded good and right to his ears and… Read More
WUT 1.0 2023, May 22025, May 27 WUT is a sound design sweetener plugin. It comes with three bands that use different experimental algorithms for each band to enhance or excite the audio. It will add weight, depth, and air to even the stiffest audio without ruining the original signal. A couple of weeks ago I went… Read More
LAB GALLERY 2011, August 25 At the Norberg festival I met Nathalie Fougeras and we talked about a lot of things but also about collaborations. It’s very rewarding to collaborate even though it never turns out the way you expected it to. But isn’t that the point? A lot of time it’s our own egos standing… Read More
