What is this thing?
For one it has been my secret mastering weapon for the past months, except for that, it is a two-band dynamic processor that aims to help you make dead-sounding mixes sound lively, warm, and dynamic while mastering. Even a good mix will benefit.
For me, Cozy Den adds that magic sauce that compressors are usually used for in the analog domain. I’m not talking about the glue or controlling the dynamics, you should still let a compressor do that part. I’m talking about the magic openness that analog compressors bring, which seems hard to dial in ITB. Instead of spending an hour tweaking the knobs of the best compressor plugins there is, load up Cozy Den post-compression or right before your limiter and make some quick tweaks. Boom, everything opens up.
Cozy Den is based on the dynamic engine that I started to develop when working with the test plugin Signal Path 4 (https://www.patreon.com/posts/97899472). Signal Path 4 was affecting the whole spectrum, in Cozy Den, it has been divided into two bands. In contrast to Signal Path 4, Cozy Den will only boost the bands, at the other end, there’s a LUFS-based gain compensation algorithm so the resulting signal may end up with either higher or lower peaks depending on the material and your settings.
