Noisebud News: FOAL v1.01, Mimer-verb, merch, and a few thoughts about updates Noisebud, 2026, May 20 FOAL v1.01 is out. I released the first version of FOAL a little over a week ago, and the first update is already here. FOAL v1.01 is currently available for the higher paying tiers. The demo can be tested by everyone, and if you do not want to wait, FOAL can also be bought as a one-time purchase. Regular Patrons can wait. I will probably release it for all Patrons within a month or so, when I have had time to prepare everything properly. More info about FOAL:https://www.patreon.com/posts/156978633 Mimer-verb is out I also released a new free plugin this week called Mimer-verb. It is a reverb built from impulse responses recorded inside Mimerlaven in Norberg, Sweden. Mimerlaven is an old industrial mining building with a huge, characterful space inside it. So Mimer-verb is not really a clean studio reverb. It is more like putting your sound inside that building. A bit rough, a bit industrial, and very much tied to the place it came from. Mimer-verb:https://www.patreon.com/posts/157878786 Buy a T-Shirt =) A small side note: if you like the Noisebud shirt I am wearing in the video, you can get one here. There are also caps and a few other things, in case you want something Noisebud-related that does not make sound. Noisebud Merch Store:https://www.noisebud.se/merch-store/ Why updates can move fast here I also talk a bit in the video about how I think about plugin updates. Noisebud is not really developed like a normal plugin company. It is still very much a hobby project, and that makes the whole thing more flexible. A lot of features in Noisebud plugins come directly from comments, discussions, and suggestions from Patrons. Someone asks for a wet/dry control.Someone asks for loudness compensation.Someone suggests a different workflow.Someone points out that a small thing could be easier to use. If I think it is a good idea, and if I can actually make it work, it can sometimes end up in a new version very quickly. Not every suggestion is possible. Some things are technically too difficult, some things do not fit the plugin, and some things are simply outside what I know how to do. But a lot of the good stuff has happened because someone asked. That is also why I am moving away from thinking in terms of alpha and beta versions. From now on, there are just versions. Version 1.00 is a version.Version 1.01 is a version.Version 1.60 is a version. Since the version number is part of the plugin name, different versions can live next to each other. If you like an older version better, you can keep using it. A new version does not have to overwrite the old one. That gives me more freedom to actually change things. Software is not hardware. If I made a hardware compressor, I could not visit every user and rebuild it because someone asked for a wet/dry control. With a plugin, I can make a new version and put it online. So that is how I want Noisebud to work. A bit faster.A bit more open.A bit more shaped by the people actually using the plugins.
