Follow Alpha 001

Hey folks,

Follow is a simplification of the plugin Signal Path 4. Like signal path 4, it’s an envelope follower with the intent to increase the dynamics of an audio signal. It’s pretty straightforward, it will follow the envelope of the incoming audio and let that control the gain of the audio. Sometimes the simplest designs is the most powerful, I love this thing!

How to use it:
Play the most intense part of the signal and hit the little round grey button to the left of the Amount knob, this will set the threshold. I usually crank up the amount to the max to set the Attack and Release. Use the Delay control to “look into the future”, this is to make sure that the level is at the desired value when that kick hits, for example. When everything is set to your liking, dial the amount knob back to where ever you like it to be. In mastering, I usually end up at no more than maybe 5 – 10 %. If I’m altering something while mixing I’m all over the place, sometimes at 100% for some creative work.
