Reaper Script: Fast Marker Workflow for Dialogue Editing (or any audio) v2.5 Noisebud, 2026, February 202026, March 27 This script started as a simple way for me to move faster when editing large amounts of dialogue. Drop markers. Jump between them. Fix the issue. Delete. Repeat. Over time it has become a proper workflow tool rather than just a helper script. I now use it just as much for music production and QC in mastering as I do for dialogue work. When checking transitions, clicks, fades, timing, spacing between tracks, or anything that needs to be revisited, I drop markers constantly. Temporary navigation points are not just a dialogue thing. Version 2.5 makes the script more flexible and makes it feel much more like a native part of Reaper. Changelog v2.5 • Added marker color support for markers created by the script• Added user-defined Start ID for script-created markers• Added option to delete markers only inside the current time selection• Added key command forwarding patch so Reaper shortcuts work even when the script window is in focus• Added option to disable key command forwarding at the bottom of the script if needed Why I use this Whether I am editing dialogue, working on music, or doing QC in mastering, I constantly drop temporary markers. I rarely name them. I just need fast navigation and fast cleanup. The default workflow works, but it is not optimized for speed when you are doing this hundreds of times in a session. This script is built for: • Quick marker insertion• Fast navigation between markers• Lightweight marker control• Single key toggle behavior Minimal friction. Installation Run the provided installation file. The script will automatically be placed in your Reaper Scripts directory. Then: Open ReaperGo to Actions → Show Action ListClick New custom action…Choose Load ReaScript…Select the scriptAssign a keyboard shortcut First-Time Toggle Setup Because the script now forwards shortcuts to Reaper, the toggle behavior is handled slightly differently than before. If you assign the script to a key, for example Y: Press Y → the script opens.Press Y again → the shortcut is forwarded to Reaper, which tries to start the script again. Reaper will then ask what to do with the already running instance. To make the script behave as a proper toggle: Choose “Terminate”.Tick “Remember my answer”. From that point on, pressing the same key will cleanly open and close the script without any extra prompts.
